Throwing 2 EGR codes???
Throwing 2 EGR codes???
My car is throwing 2 EGR codes and I have no idea why. It says EGR malfunction. My car is running extremely rich on the dyno it went below 10.0 from 4k-6k it was even below 9.0 I think but it doesn't read past that point. I don't know if this would attribute to the codes being thrown or not.
Re: Throwing 2 EGR codes???
The EGR system is not used above 3,500rpm, not at WOT so it would only cause a problem if the EGR valve is sticking open.
What 2 codes did you get? If one of them was for the EGR vacuum solenoid circuit, it could indicate a solenoid that is burned out, or shorted and sticking open. The other code was likely for EGR flow... that would show up if the solenoid was stuck open or stuck closed.
Without knowing the exact codes you got, that's about as close as I can get it.

Well should I just delete the EGR and not mess with it?
Re: Throwing 2 EGR codes???
The EGR system doesn't hurt anything when it is operating correctly. Helps reduce detonation when lugging the engine at too low rpm in the wrong gear, for example. If you delete the system, you need to get the diagnostics programmed out, or you will be staring at an SES light. Or there are spoofs that will allow you to trick the PCM nito thinking the EGR system is still there.
