throw out borla and duals?

basically i am pretty tired of the way my borla sounds. it resonates alot, it sounds a lot better since i put the cam in, but it still only sounds alright. i usually just have it with the cut out fully open because otherwise i can't hear anything outside the car or inside. i really like the way these motors sound with an x-pipe and trual duals, but the only thing holding me back would be the fact i have the rk sport headers (azsm replica's) and they are only "mid lengths". would duals with an x-pipe off these headers give me the nice deep rumble i hear off most cars with long tubes and duals, or am i fighting a losing battle? with power into consideration, i really don't care, i would really like this thing to sound a lot more like the muscle car it is that the weird growl thing it has now.

and yes i feel extremely lame and dumb for making a thread about exhaust, there are definitely much more pressing issues in this forum but i am trying to see if anyone else has experience before i decide to go throw some money at something.

Re: throw out borla and duals?

Yes, there is absolutely nothing wrong with using "mid-length" headers in conjunction with a true dual set-up...Many people have run MAC or AS&M mids and true duals together FYI...As long as you won't ever go beyond 450rwhp, a professionally made 2.5" X-pipe set-up with the mufflers of your choice will make excellent power at peak like your open Borla (but really shine under the curve unlike a cat-back/Y-pipe combo). And with the right mufflers, you'll get that deep true dual sound you're looking for that the Borla doesn't offer...

Just keep in mind that if you dump your duals right before the axle, it will be really loud inside the car with a lot of interior resonance and vibrations as compared to running it out the rear...

Good luck,

Mike
