Throw out bearing and input bearing?
Throw out bearing and input bearing?
Im replacing my clutch and I was told I should replace the throwout bearing(or course) and the input bearing(not really sure what bearing this is). Are there any special aftermarket throwout bearings or input bearings? IE any stronger than stock. Im just really not sure what exactly I need. Also I have heard its a good idea to replace the main seal. How hard is it to replace the main seal?

The only two bearings there are the pilot bushing/bearing and throwout bearing. If you replace your pressure plate, the PP usually comes with a brand new throwout bearing. If you plan on reusing your PP, order a stock throwout bearing. It's a 5 second replacement when the PP is off (seriously). As for the pilot bushing/bearing, get the solid brass bushing. Not the easiest to replace but definitely the best replacement over the needle or roller bearing (both of which have issues w/ breaking).
Input bearing? No clue.. sounds like someone got that term confused w/ the pilot bushing.
Hope that info helps.

Also anyone know much about the rear main seal? Im guessing its the pressed seal that is about 3-4" inches in diameter that seals to the crank it looks like. Is it worth replacing and once again know of a good place to get one(something tells me the dealer will guoge(sp?) me for it)?
If the rear seal is not leaking, do not replace it.
You should replace the pilot bushing/bearing.
It is located in the "hole" in the middle of the crank/ flywheel.
I used a 3/8" round rachet handle. It's a little small so I wrapped it with electrical tape to fit snug.
Put some grease in the hole first and insert the handle, bump the end with your hand. As it starts slidding out, you will have to add more grease. Keep doing this, it will eventually pop out.
Good Luck,
Michael
