throttle return spring Q
I had a 93 formula, now a 96 WS6.
I am not fond of the very heavy throttle the 96 has. my 93 was much easier to feather, very light touch.
the clutch on my 96 pushes easier than the throttle.
I see my 96 has twin throttle springs, I think my 93 only had one(I'm gonna look into that).
I have NO sticking issues or anything like that, just want a softer pedal. when I blip the throttle to downshift, it takes all the subtlety of a sledgehammer.
anyone now how to, or if its possible to, change the spring, or spring tension, on the throttle body? I would think some people would have set up their car to their liking.
I thought maybe it was the pedal or cable, but both seem very free.
Fotunately, I will probably get to look at my old car again, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
thanx.

Have you pulled the cables off and verified that the pedal is not sticking or the cable is kinked somewhere?
Make sure your cruise control cable is not binding it up as well.
If all that checks out your TB blades could be binding but this is highly unlikely.
I know nothing about Traction Control but it might be that as well.

On the 96, you should only have a single double wind spring (2 winds of spring, only wound once). It should not be hard at all to press.
Unhook the linkage and see if its very hard to press. Spray it with WD-40 all around it, and some on the blades. It might the blades getting sticky because of carbon buildup or something.

I pulled the trigger guard off (I think you know what I mean
) and checked the cables. the throttle cable has no binding and the pedal flops nicely. the cruise connecter slides free, the cable itself feels tight, but it is connected to a motor of some sort, however the cable actually freeslides right at the TB. No TCS on this car.
I think NOMAD has something, the initial push of the pedal -is- harder than the rest, it seems to bind shut. I will check that out.
thanx.
The rest of the travel isn't as bad, I'm already starting to compensate for it and its only been a day. Maybe in the end thats what I'll have to do is adapt. I just thought maybe I could make it a little softer.
I guess its just relative, the shifter was the opposite. I liked the 93 stock shifter fine, I get in this car with the SLP short throw and I'm like "awesome"
, then I get back in the 93 and it practially feels broken.
the spring is what I guess I would call a single-double spring, as they sit direct side by each almost like they are bonded. They wrap around the shaft 5 times and catch just under the top of the TB as an anchor point.

:UPDATE:
found the issue. The '93 indeed has a COMPLETELY different spring setup than the '96. Maybe I can con the new owner into switching TB's
Anyway, just posting in case someone else is looking at a similar problem. Jeez, I'd be tempted to start making and selling aftermarket select rate throttle return springs, but that is one liability issue I don't wanna tackle.
