throttle NOT retuning ALL the way closed BBK 58?

Sometimes the throttle blade stays open just a little bit, causing a high idle. I can close it the remaing few degrees by hand. What is binding up in it to cause this? It is VERY annoying, and makes it difficult to drive in traffic.

Is she clean? Also the pivot points clean and lubed? When I removed my stock one and sold it it was very nasty. ~100k at the time. The new unit is much smoother response.

What "matt65" said. My BBK 52mm TB had the same problem. It was just dirty.

certainly take it off and brake clean it, and it should be smooth between the tb blades

I had the 52mm BBK on my 93 and it did the same thing from day 1. I polished the openings and the blade edges and it seemed to help a little.

thanks guys, taking it off and cleaning it I guess. That's what I figured, but I thought maybe there was an inherent issue

There is a little stud on my TB linkage that isn't used its probably used for a traction control car. I just used that stud to hook one side of the spring to, then there is a hole on the bottom of the throttle linkage bracket on the intake that isn't used. I then hooked the other side into that hole. I had to cut a notch in the plastic piece that covers the throttle linkage but it works, and i like the added security of the extra spring there. I had my throttle stick once on the car when i first got it.

Here are the pics, pardon the dirty engine bay as i usually do most of my cleaning when i work on the motor. Thank god i haven't had to work on it in a while. The first pic is of the spring the second is of the cut linkage cover installed.

Re: throttle NOT retuning ALL the way closed BBK 58?

Mine came from the factory in terrible shape and was causing a sticking at about 2K rpms. It had some kind of hard sealant around the perimeter of the blades and on the housing itself. I ended up taking the blades out and polishing them and smoothing out the inside of the TB with a dremel. Worked like a charm. Buttery smooth operation now.
