Throttle Body Question

ok i have a 1996 Trans am with Lt1, borla cat back, k&n cold air intake, longtube headers, ory, short throw 6 speed, and i was wondering if u can get a bigger throttle body with just those mods? if so how much bigger without having to do anything else? 52mm? 58mm? i am just curious about getting a bigger throttle and what are the gains with one?

With your mods, you do not REQUIRE a bigger throttle body, but.....you asked a question, and you shall have the answer. The front of your intake plenum, what the throttle body feeds, is 52MM. So you can go to a 52MM Throttle body without much other modification.

If you plan on going with a bigger cam and ported heads in the future it would be a good investment, if not the way your car is set up right know you wont see much of a gain. Have you done any work to the suspention? Drivetrain? You might want to consider investing money there.

Better idea, do the gears versus the throttle body.

Either choice of gear would work well with your six speed, most opt for the 4.10s though. You will have to have the PCM tuned in order to correct the speedometer calibration.

Get the 4.10's, you'll thank yourself.

You'll have better 60' times, quicker acceleration, but don't forget your gearbox here. You can't get on the torque converter and put pressure on the rear end with an M6, so everytime you launch, your rear end goes from dead stop to a ~4,500 RPM launch.

^^^ Are you trying to say that 4.10's are not good with an A4 with a big stall?

He's saying that 4.10s in a m6 is a lot more stressful on the rear on versus an a4 with 4.10s, since automatics preload.

But that's what's always recommended with a M6.
