Throttle Body Question

I am having to change out my tb. I need to know if I am going to have to do any mods to the intake to install a 58mm throttle body. I spoke to Bryan at pcmforless and he told me that with my current set up and his tune that the 58mm throttle would be very helpful. Any information you could provide me with would be appriciated.

You will have to have the throttle bores on the intake manifold ported to accomodate the bigger throttle body.

Yes the intake will have to be modified. There are a few guides on here, do a search. It is really easy, basically use your 58mm gasket as a template, scribe, and then remove the necessary amount. Some do it with it on the car, with rags stuffed in the intake, but the best idea is to remove the intake from the car and then re-install.

It seems like most of the throttle body manufacturers have little issues here and there. I don't have personal experience with the Summit TB, but I haven't had any issues with the BBK brand.

I have a summit brand throttle body on my car. Works great. I did have to modify the IAC port though because I had a split fuel trim problem. But I think that is with about any aftermarket throttle body. For the money I think that summit brand throttle body is the best bang for your dollar. Seems just the same as the rest of the manufactorers only easyer on your wallet. And if you happen to need links to instructions on how i modifyed it if you run into split fuel trim problems let me know.

Thanks for the replies. I'm having trouble with erratic idle, and it's running rich. The fuel trim is ok though. It just smells rich as heck. Also the linkage is very loose on the TB where the shaft goes through. Bryan at PCMforless said to open it up at bit and see if that helps, said the engine was choking. Not sure how to do this, it's teh trottle postion screw on the right?

The throttle stop screw is on the driver's side, toward the top.

I always thought the Edelbrock TB was just a BBK with a top plate that says "BBK-Edelbrock".
