Throttle body mod

If i replaced my stock throttle body with a 1000 cfm throttle body from BBK would I need to make anyother mods?

Is it a good idea to make this mod?

What are the good and bad aspects?

What he said...if you dont have mods like Heads/Cam, upgrading to a bigger TB isnt worth your time nor money. the stock 48mm throttle body is good til about 400hp from what i read on the boards.

If your car is stock for the most part, look into headers, gears..etc

Re: Throttle body mod

Sweet thanks for the info...

If I have a car that is already missing the catalytic converter what would be the best way to go, as far as headers and getting a
Cat converter put in?

I want to get some hooker headers. but which cat converter should I get?

Re: Throttle body mod

Almost anyone will work. If you want better flow from your cat, then get a high-flow one like Magnaflow, etc. If you're not doing all the work yourself, take it to an exhaust shop to weld in.

Re: Throttle body mod

Well whats the difference between short headers and long headers what are the differences between them?

Do I have to get short headers because my car comes stock with shorties?

Re: Throttle body mod

From the factory, your car came with manifolds which are not shorties.

Manifolds combine all 4 exhausts into 1 pipe right after the head -- these are crap for obvious reasons and come stock out of the factory a I already mentioned.

Shorties have 4 pipes that combine into 1 bigger pipe at the collector (right before the y-pipe next to your starter and on the other side).

Long tubes have 4 long pipes for each side that extend much further then the shorties, adding a lot more flow capacity. But, they pose some clearance issues because they come down low, and in most states they are illegal -- which means you will not pass emissions.

I would say some states not most states! and if you get the LT's with emmision control fittings, then even most of them will pass you, if the exhaust is set up properly, with cats and all!!
