whats up, im a new member, im wondering if i should spend 309$ for a new 52mm throttle body. or get it ported. how much hp should i expect , will i feel a diff? and also i was told that 1.6 rocker arms will do nothing for my car. and my friend got the crane gold. and said he noticed a big diff. is that worth the 300$ for that. or not. how much hp is that extra thanks a lot



93z 6spd. mods, k&n cold air, full exhaust, hypertech chip, 160 thermostat. alum drive shaft, pro 5.0 shifter.

 

the throttle body isn't worth the price of the aftermarket ones. with a full exhaust you'd probably se around 5-7hp gains with the 52mm tb. hardly enough to warrant the $300+ price tag...but i'd say it may be worth it for the $150 or so to have it bored. up to you.

as for the 1.6rr...those are gaining popularity as a very impressive mod. most guys are gaining around 10-15hp at the wheels on stock cars. i'd say they are a good mod...again up to you.

ps...what is ment buy "full exhaust" on your car? headers & catback?

if not headers, you'll benefit from that the most over tb or rr

 

I would get the 1.6 rockers. They'll give you some power up top. Some people have seen 17-22hp at 6100rpm with aftermarket valve springs and 1.6 rockers.

The 52mm TB would be a waste of $$ unless you were doing a cam in my opinion. You would see maybe 4-6hp on a stock LT1.

 

Thanks for the help guys, BBK shorties should be on my door step in about 2 weeks. guess, i'll go ahead with the 1.6 rr. and just port the throttle body., and intake. , anyother suggestions. should i keep the 3.23's or go for 3:73'?

 

I agree with the others,get the 1.6RR and just get a bored stock TB.I got mine for $100.00 plus my TB on trade and i noticed no difference in power.
