Throttle body

Hi guys I am over here from the Corvette Forum because you guys seem more knowledgeable on LT1's than the Vette boys. I have 190 TPIS AFR heads ZZ9 cam with 1.6rr's, EM headers dyno tune, 3.54 gears and DR's. It was dynoed at 350rwhp and best run is 12.269 @ 115. I see you guys are putting down around 40 more hp than me. Should I be going to a 58mm tb and 30lb injectors as most of you run or stick with my setup and do you think you are getting better numbers as a result of the tb and injectors.

Thanks

Fredk

Anyone getting 40 more than you must have a bigger cam. The ZZ9 is a mild cam and the numbers and times you are getting seem to be on the money.

Bearing in mind that going with a bigger cam can result in a bit less drivability---idle, etc.JMHO

I agree i think the cam is holding you back. Most hotcam and heads guys rarely get much over 360rwhp so you're not far off.

At those HP levels I doubt that your stock TB is a restriction.

The TPIS AFR heads the way they come from TPIS can seriously use some further portwork....the ones I've personally seen from TPIS were just the regular street ported AFR's with really nothing more than some (1-2 inch into the port) entry portwork from TPIS, and not much else additional......Also, Flow wise (from the ones I've seen) they're not quite at the level of the Lloyd Elliott or Advancedinduction Factory LT1 casting heads that many of us on here run......If your looking for more power, Mabe try having the heads finished out some more by someone like Lloyd.....run a thinner head gasket if your not already to bump the compression a bit more(or cut the heads some to achieve it), and a custom grind cam would also be a good step up from the cam that your running.....then (Just like you mentioned) the 30LB injectors, a 58MM throtttlebody, and some more good tuning to bring it all together, and then you should be right where your wanting to be..........Joe
