Thoughts on Stainless Works y-pipe

Think about getting the Stainless Works offroad y-pipe to make the exhaust flow a little better, but mainly to improve the sound of the car. I really don't have the $$ for headers right now, so I'm thinking this is probably the best option. I've got an OBDI ECM, so I won't even need O2 sims, and we don't have emissions here either. Anybody put one of these on a 96/97 car? Thoughts on fit, and sound quality?

Personally....I would just save up and get the headers. No use getting a Y-pipe with everything else being stock.

I would say it would be ok IF you are gonna buy shorties to bolt up and or you do a obd1 exhaust system. If you dont its just waisted money. BUt if you do obd 1 exhaust you will need the catback to go with the y pipe intil you got hedders.

Cool

Do a search on here for topic. I remember reading threads about fitment issues. Don't recall if it was with cat version or catless version.

I already did a search, there really haven't been a lot of posts on them. There were 1 or 2 that said they had fitment issues, and a couple that said it fit great. Of course, for $199 I really can't go wrong as I could probably get close to that back out of it if I didn't like it.

Well I have one and the first one they sent me didnt fit not even close the holes were they match up wewre out of wack by at least in inch. They said I got the old design set whatever sent them back got the new set this y pipe the holes lined up but was even close to mating up with my hhoker long tubes one side was short by atleast 4 inches damminit son of Bit h well I am not going threw the aggraviton of sending it back I will make it work.I am not trying to bad mouth stainless works just telling it like it is.The only thing that might effect why it doesn't line is I have solid motor mounts could this have caused the ypipe to be that short? The quality and fit and finish are top notch but the only problemo is the fitment maybe I just got the oddball one.

I had heard about problems in general with premade y-pipes for Long Tubes, but I've still got stock manifolds.
