Thoughts/opinions on this LE2 combo?

well,got to talking to frank over at CPT,and im sending him my trans for a full race rebuild on my 4l60e...so,now its time to get all the crap for the motor

this is what i have already..

pacesetter longtubes,coated with ory and slp loudmouth 1
4.10 rear axle with moser axles and new posi
holley 58mm tb
and 38# svo injectors

heres what i have planned..
LE2 heads{possibly le3 if someone can convince me the extra $$ is well spent}
gm847 cam{based this off sound clips,and results posted with this cam,if you have a better alternative,let me know}
yank 4k stall
and of course the other odds and ends needed to support this.

the one thing im unsure of,is which ignition i should be persuing.

the other thing is what should i expect to rev this too?
what sort of times should i expect from this combo? i plan on spraying 100/150 as well since the cars got spray hooked up right now.

also,any ideas how long the shortblock will last ? i plan on either a 383/396 build in the fall and hope to have that new combo going by next spring.

any ideas,thoughts opinions are welcome.

Ask Lloyd Elliott which of his LE heads and cam he recommends for your combination and what you want to do with it. He has quite a cam selection tailored to various combinations including yours. Tell him about your stock shortblock and future plans for a stroker.

Good luck!

if you just want the idle of a GM847 the LE2 cam will do it. my buddy's LE2 cam sounded nastier than the GM847. it had less duration, but a much tighter LSA.

your shortblock's death cant have an exact date or time. it could last until you get your next 383/396 shortblock done. it could last a week. the stock bottom end isn't going to like the GM847's rev range for real long figure shifting well over 6500. why not go with LE3 heads and an LE2 cam, then when you step up to a forged bottom stroker get the LE4 cam (an LE3 cam for strokers)?

the BEST thing to do, is to talk to lloyd.

Say bye bye to your bearings if you are reving to 7K and spraying a 100-150 on it.

You might just want to talk to Lloyd and let him set you up with a cam as well. If you plan on spraying and want an aftermarket ignition, look into the Mallory 685 box.

i too reccomend a custom cam gear towards your "goal" with the car right now. You say you are going to use nitrous, so you don't want to use a cam that doesn't like the spray (ie - blows through the nitrous and doesn't make the best power on the hose)

well,my goals for the car are simply 11.5 et

from what ive read,simply doing the bolton crap,plus the h/c swap...theoretically on paper that should be good enough for 11.5s{from my research}

car is a street/strip vehicle,is in no way my daily driver,but i do drive it alot just because its a fun vehicle.

also,how difficult will the tune be?

You'll get 11.5's off the bottle if you hook the car and have the right tune.

I recommend the le2 setup for what you want, keep your rpm's down to get the shortblock to last longer.

Also which yank converter you going with, the PT4000 WILL NOT like you spraying it with that much nitrous.

Depends on what you want to use it for, if you are all out street race motor then 3500+ stall, especially with the cams you are looking at. A LE2 cam would be mean on a 3500stall.

well,as mentioned above,the motor WILL see nitrous use,not every day,or even ever yweek,but it will see it none the less. most likely in the form of 100 shot on the stock shortblock,or maybe only a 75...its going to depend on how good this thing runs once assembled.

once the 396 build is done{which has already started} should be completed by the end of fall{money and time constraints} then most likely i will end up spraying 150/175 through it.

the other thought going through my head right now,is possibly an m6 conversion,since i have a low miles t56 in my garage,the only way i see that NOT happening,is if the car is incredibly fun to drive,or yanks the tires

I would suggest not spraying that on stock bottom end, but thats just me. I had just a cam only and 71,000 miles and blew my engine to pieces. Once you get the 396 up you can spray the hell outta it, but please dont spray with the LE2 setup hah... you wont like the outcome.
