Those of you who got WOT (only WOT) dyno tuning....
How much did you pay and where did you go if its in michigan?
I want to do my own part throttle tuning but i'd rahter just let someoen adjust the WOT a/f and timing.
Cant seem to get a strait answer out of anybody. Some people are paying $5-600 for just 2 pulls at WOT tuning
for about doublt that, i'll just go DFI

$500-$600 for just 2 pulls of WB tuning....sounds fishy.
$500-$600 for for a good tune is more like it, but should take 3-4 hours, using XX runs to get it right, hence the price.
Each combo is different, requires playing with timing, fuel adjustment, fighting KR, patience and tweaking. But you already know this.

and i'll do the part throttle tuning myslef, i kinda want to tune myself.
i'll make some calls
Trey,
You shouldn't do the wot tuning first. You should do your idle tuning, then your part throttle tuning, then wot.
And if you can do the part throttle stuff, you can do the wot stuff.
Let me know if you need help.
And yes, $500-600 does sound like too much considering you had me down to 2 McDonalds lunches!

Trey,
Dan's right on the money here. Do the idle and part throttle driveability stuff first. You don't need a WB to do that. You'll just be logging BLM's and probably tweeking injector constant for global changes and perhaps tweeking MAF calibration tables in some areas to account for some cam reversion and maybe some changes to the breathing characteristics. You may also have to tweek timing tables to improve throttle response or minimize cam surge. Part throttle stuff is actually the most difficult because you'll probably run into BLM splits between the left & right.
Then,
2 or 3 pulls on the dyno with a WB and you should have the PE table tuned to about 13.0 AFR across the board. 3 pulls costs me about $75. If you are bangin the knock sensor it might take another pull or two to retard the timing a bit.
Oh yea, If your running a boosted LT1 things probably will get way more difficult on a stock PCM.

SLP does WOT tuning for 125 I belive, and if you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator they charge 825$ for like 3+ hours of WOT and part throttle tuning, the guy I talked to said they did some serious stuff. This was before I realised my insurance was 6,200$ a year
Im sure they have more options available, but are only located in NJ

I don't know what they'd be doing with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, but IMHO if you have the ability to modify tables in the computer than you should set the fuel pressure to whatever flow the injectors are rated at and then leave it alone.
I might be wrong about the fuel pressure regulator, that was a while ago, but i know it was 825$..... heres the link to their site

after reading it over however, It seems that if your paying 500-600 at most places, here your paying an extra 205$ to say you were tuned by slp

My friend Bob Kennedy does dynotuning and charges $125/h. Fully instruemented (2 wide band AF meters, up to 8 EGT probes, FP, IAT, MAP, water temp, oil temp, etc.). He does it all himself and has <40y high performance experience. Unless it were the ghost of Smokey Yunick doing the tuning or something like that, I'd say $385/h is absurd.
