Those of you with home-made X-pipe setups....come inside

Any advice for making my own home-made X-pipe setup? I have Pacesetter LTs with 3-bolt collector flanges.

I ordered from Jegs:
3" to 2.5" flanged reducers
2.5" universal X-pipe kit
2.5" Dynomax bullets
2.5" turndowns

I planned on getting everything bolted up/clamped together, with hangers at the rear seatbelt holes, tack-welding the slip-fits, taking the system off, and then welding everything completely.

Is there anything else I would need besides hangers?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

i would suggest that when you trial fit your system make sure you use a drive up lift... not one that lets the suspension hang, i made mine to while the suspension was hanging and it sits really low. Also you have pacesetter headers did you get there y-pipe? if so cut the flat part out thats made to keep the y-pipe from banging on the floor and incorporate it into your true dual system, if not it will bang on the floor during acceleration.

Pacesetter Y-pipe is 3 inches. I'll flatten the pipe coming off the collector a little bit....also, the suspension wouldn't need to be loaded because it's not going over the axle.

Cool. As long as I don't scrape going over bumps in the road, I should be OK..

Why the move to the X pipe and duals? Just wondering.

Wouldnt those two items hang low if it was on a arm lift? I cant remeber the last time one was on one.

Well, the collector flange on my driver side header was welded on crooked...so it kept blowing out gaskets. I got pissed and sold my current X-pipe setup (again, it's the header flange, not the system itself), and I'm going to weld my own system and keep the extra cash.

I am sorry I thought you had a Hooker Catback, I must be out of the loop. Anyways, I guess the reason you went to duals to begin with was either power gains or weight savings, or both. Just wondering. Thanks.

Had a Hooker and it leaked....so I went with the X-pipe over the axle for added power, and the guy gauranteed I would not have any leaks. That system started leaking, so now I'm making my own. I'm tired of giving my money to shops and they can't do a damn thing right.

The new system will be lighter with less bends anyways..
