Those with failed electric water pumps...in here please

To anyone with a failed electric water pump, what was the cause of the failure? I have heard the most common is the wires coming loose?

The waterpump seal leaked filling the electric motor on my csi pump. It would work fine then just shut off randomly (I wired it with warning lights and used circuit breakers instead of fuses)
