I have the 160 stat in mine and often wondered why it read higher than it should. I hooke up the GM TECH 2 and it read about 15 degrees cooler than what I could estimate on the dash gauge. Our gauges are way off guys!

as long as i am moving it never goes above 170 ish. some rag talked about how extreemly accurate the stock guages are. dont forget the location of the sensor (i think on the intake manifold) is where your reading that temperature so even if your stat is 160 thats right at the stat. its normal for the coolant at the sensor to be higher.

my heater never worked for **** when the car was stock. it runs colder now w/ the 160, but it runs better because of it.
