My friend ordered a set of bare LT4 heads 210's.... and this is what he got in the mail today....


Arent their supposed to be wholes for the reverse cooling like these stock ones..

 

youre right, i dont think that head will work.

LT4 heads look just like LT1 heads but are a little different. I say you got the wrong heads also. What is the part number on the box and the heads?

 

I've got some bare AFR LT4 210's in my basement. At least, I hope so after seeing this thread!

 

I just looked at mine and they are exactly like the ones that you received.

 

I just checked some pictures of a set of Lloyd Elliott ported AFR 210's that a board member sent me and they are exactly like ours. I THINK that we are OK but I don't know why there is a difference. I purchased mine from HPE and I wouldn't think that they mixed them up.

I just checked mine and they have part number 1173, 5210 LT stamped into the head along with the numbers 444. My AFR catalog shows part number 1173 as, "AFR SBC 210cc LT4 reverse cool heads, 70cc chambers, bare heads w/ductile seats & bronze guids installed." I think we are OK. I'll email SStrokerace to be sure.

 

The part # on the invoice is 1173F also.... just checked the AFR website and says that these are the correct ones..... Thanks anyways guys. just my friend was kind of pissed b/c he had to wait like 10weeks and didnt want to wait anymore....

Nope those work....

If there are no big holes on the intake flange for water passages is the easiest way to tell. That and the intake bolts are not perpendicular with the intake face.

Thanks Bret, after I saw this thread I started looking at pictures of stock cast LT1 heads compared to the AFR's and there is a big difference. I just didn't know why there would be such a big difference and the heads still work.

 

those are some pretty heads though. Glad they are the right ones.

 

about to send them to get ported, along with some big valves and all the valvetrain.....

 

if its that big of a deal..ill trade you for my GM LT4 heads

 

I never really payed any attention to the difference, I wonder why AFR made them different from the stock cast heads? I don't know about FIREHAWK #7, but no thanks TransAm396, I think I will keep my AFR's.
