Things to wathc out for at Engine rebuild shop, questions to ask?
Im taking my block to a machine shop tomorrow.
This shop is highly recommended by one of my friends who does head porting and car work on the side. And i would trust him doing work on my car.
But i just want to make sure everything sits right when I go talk to the guys are the machine shop..
For instance- If i go 383 pistons, should i have the pistons ordered 1st and then have them bore out the cylinder walls. Because i know each piston manufacture has a slight different size etc. This way they can match the bore exactly to the piston.
anything else i should know or ask the machine shop?

If they are really good they will know what to do without your having to prompt them. They should know a lot more about it than you (or I) do. To machine the block correctly they need the whole rotating assembly. If they don't know that, go somewhere else!
