Question Thin ground wire on pass. side of block by dipstick... what is it for?

While debunking my airbag problem I noticed that I have a loose ground on the block. I haven't reconnected it yet but I'm wondering if it's tied in at all to the airbag system. Any ideas?

That's what I was thinking. The ground for the signal the starter gets from the switch, not the actual starter.

You sure that it isn't your knock sensor. It is thin, and it connects right near the dipstick area.

knock sensors don't have a gound that goes to the block. knock sensor is only a single wire that goes to the ecm

it's a reference ground for your pcm. i saw the same one when i was pulling the motor for my s-10, looked it up in the service manual. reconnect it and make sure it has a good connection.

Absolutely correct, however, to the uninitiated it might appear to be a ground wire of some sort. Didn't want to see him cut or hack it, assuming that it was an insignificant ground wire. I know I almost did the first time I saw it.
