Are these Pro Mag Rockers Fugged up? Pic

Its kind of blurry but its the best I could do. I have about 9 of these that are like this. See how they are scarred on the sides where the arrows are? They seem to roll fine.
Pic
Here

Also what is the difference in the rocker itself between Self Align and Non Self Align? I noticed that the not self aligning dont have the "Flaps" on each side where it rides the valve tip and prevents it from moving from side to side.

My friend is saying these are non self aligning but these have the Flaps on each side, so I keep telling him they are Self aligning.

Those are self aligning.. as far as the scarring I had ONE like that that I used anyway and everything seems fine so far... but if I had nine of them I would call Comp and find out what they would recommend.

I'm pretty sure those are not self aligning and you will find out that they have to have guide plates.

I noticed one in the picture has the trunnion upside down. Were they all installed correctly with the trunnion right side up?

Did you measure the length of the pushrods to see if they are correct? try this if you need it:

While I am not certain, those do not appear to be self aligning rockers, which might explain the damaged apparent damage to the tips.

From what I can tell from your photo is that your rockers ARE self aligning. http://www.compcams.com/catalog/286.html

Some of my CCPMSA rockers are showing appreciable wear on the inside edges of the tip guides(flaps, ears or whaterver you call them) after only 500 miles. I think I will be calling CC and see what they have to say about the wear.

Those do appear to be the same as the ones in his photo. I'm surprised a maufacturer with the reputation of Comp has what seems to me to be a poor design. I'm glad I went with Crower self-aligning 1.6RRs.

I thought you could not run self aligning rockers with guide plates? I thought it would bind in the valvetrain?

those definitely are self aligning rockers. what it appears may have happened is someone installed guideplates anyway which put excessive wear on those flaps or guides. im not sure if theyd be alright to use anymore.. definitely not as self aligned anyway. maybe you could grind off those guides and then theyd work as nonself aligned?

Mine were not used with guideplates and still are showing what I think is excessive wear. It seems to be a poor design and in 20/20 hindsight I should have went with the NSA rockers.

Update I just talked to the guys at Comp Cams and showed them the pic, they said they will cover that and it shouldnt do it. All I have to do is send in the bad ones and they will take care of it. Give them a call if yours did the same. Lifetime warranty.
