Re: are these good headers
Where you can get into trouble with headers is if they do a visual inspection. CA requires that any headers installed have to have a CARB-EO emissions tag welded to them. Many states use the CA standards in this regard. With a header that keeps the stock number of cats in the stock location, it's possible to have the CARB-EO approval. Even with the CARB-EO tag, the emissions components (EGR, AIR) have to be hooked up, assuming the person doing the visual inspection knows what they are looking for.
Long tube headers, on the other hand, violate FEDERAL emission law because they relocate the cat(s). So there's no way they can get the CARB-EO approval. States like CA and others that adopt the CA standards follow Federal guidelines. Other states ignore the Federal guidelines, maybe don't even have visual inspection, etc. Within any state, there are often urban districts that follow emissions standards and require inspections, and rural areas that may be exempt.
All depends where you live as to what you can get away with.
