Thermostat question

Looking to install a low temp stat. Not sure if I want to go as low as 160. Does anyone make a 170 stat for the LT1?

I was also wondering for those of you who are running low temp stats and have reprogramed the fans, what temps you used for turn on and turn off.

Thanx

I believe Mr. Gasket makes a 180 degree stat for the LT1. I've got a 160 in mine with the fans set to come on at 175 and go off at 165.

If you drive alot during the day when it's hot, you may need to revise those fan settings. I sleep during the day so it's not a problem for me.

Hmm if I'm not mistaken the stock thermostat is 180 degrees. You dont really need to revise fan settings but its not a bad idea in really hot weather. Mine are at stock settings with my 160 t-stat and I never even come close to 200 degrees unless the car is idling for 20+ minutes and wont break 185 while driving. The only disadvantage is that it takes a while to heat up in case its cool out and you need heat, other than thata low temp t-stat is fairly nice.

I thought the stock T stat was up around 200 or 210? But I've been wrong before so I may be wrong here as well.

Yeah, usually when I drive my car the temp is between 75 and 80 degrees so with the 160 stat, the revised fan settings, and some purple ice, the temp. gauge generally sits on 160. Makes the AC work really well though.

The stock stat is like 195 deg. I want to go cooler than that but not 160 if I can help it. Have to look around and see what I can find. Auto Zaone has a 180 deg stat for $20.

The stock thermostat is 180°. Don't bother buying another 180 if yours is working.

When you buy a thermostat, just make sure it is the long design made for the LT1.
