Is there a stand alone LT1 controller?
Is there a stand alone LT1 controller?
I've worked on LT1s on a few occasions (actually doing a H/C job at the moment) but they have all been in F-Bodys that have computers to start with.
I'm thinking of building a pretty stout LT1 to go in my '78 T/A and I'm wondering if anyone is making a stand alone unit that only controls the engine functions, and has nothing to do with the A/C and transmission controlls and SES....and on and on...
Anyway, does anyone know where to get something like that?

IMHO, you had a much better choice of engines in 1978. Several first Gen. SBC's as well as the optional 6.6L that was available that year. You can convert them to EFI if you are into that and you will avoid the 2 major pitfalls of the LT1 with the reverse cooling and the dreaded opti.
You can convert the LT1 to a standard rear mount distributor when you install it in the 78 but you will always have the reverse cooling issue. The wiring and controls can be easier with the older generation as well. Not to mention a better choice of cranks, cams etc.......

you could try a commander 950 made by holley it more or less is the same as the old accel 6 box not as expensive as the 7 box or fast system do the swap i think old cars with new drive trains are cool not to mention when you pop that hood people will be impressed
