pretty much unless you going low9's and beyond stick with your intake you will gain very little the intakes are great for 800 hp and below

Some of the custom made ones were pretty beastly though. If your that serious about an intake, see if someone can fab you one up. Or a way to convert some of the regular SBC ones to fit an LT1, then get it hogged out.

Bret designed one for somebody a while back. It was pretty expensive I think, but on a cammed & headed motor I think they predicted it to make like a 30 horsepower gain or something insane like that. The stock intake design is OK. It gets the job done, but theres alot to be improved on as well. I could be wrong on the horsepower gain, but I remember htem saying it should have made a very noticable gain across the board.

Call Bull ****.

I know guy that races in the Modified class at a local circle track. The motor makes 300+ HP running through a 390CFM, 2BBL carb, with restictor plate.

Just cause an lT1 intake that is port matched supports up to 800HP, doesnt mean its optimal. His 390 CFM, 2 BBL Carb handles jsut fine. He rips around that track. But its not optimal. Just cause it works doesnt mean it is perfect. The LT1 intake leaves alot to be desired. Im not saying its a bad intake, actually, its a pretty good design for what it was inteded to be used as. Just not optimal for power.

With the combo im looking at building 210 AFRs heavily ported and possibly a solid roller(would like to stay hydraulic roller), on a 383/396, even a ported LT4 is gonna hold it back quite a bit.
