Are there any affordable valvesprings that will hold up to the hotcam?

I've been looking around and haven't really found anything under $200. Am I just going to have to spend this much or are there cheaper springs out there that will still hold the .525 lift? Thanks

Will they fit without machining?

What would be the consequences of having "too much spring" ? Extra drag on the valvetrain?

Well I dont know I was just going off what I have seen others use on their setups. Im not good at all when it comes to the valvetrain. Sorry if it will not work and I got your hopes up.

id think comp cams 918 springs would be fine. they are a ls1 spring but will work with no maching on the lt1 heads

Whats the matter with the LT4 springs?... they should work fine.

But if you want something a little stronger then check into the Combination Motorsports 612 spring for LT1s. The 918s referred to are WAY too much for the Hotcam.. not saying they wont do the job fine but its like putting $1000 rims on a car worth $10... theyll work great but you can find something far cheaper to do the job.

LT4 springs.... 35$ bucks a set. I ran them with no valve float or problems for over 30K miles on my 97Z!

That's what I was thinking. Don't go overboard unless you have a reason. They were pretty much designed to work together, so you might as well save yourself some bucks and use them.
