That's right, another cam choice thread. Hate me.
That's right, another cam choice thread. Hate me.
Well after spinning a rod bearing in my Cobra and deciding that the engine is just too small and complicated to have fun with, that thing's getting sold and my Formula is getting FAST. Here's what I plan to do in terms of bolt ons and other stuff, I want LOPE and lots of it. This is purely for my enjoyment and a track car, streetability is not a concern.
1994 Formula
A4 w/ 4.56 Gears
Hooker Longtubes into dumped bullets
Stall (No clue on this...cam specific?)
Untouched heads
I'd like to go with an off the shelf cam, simply because it's marginally cheaper and I plan to do a mail order tune, so a run of the mill cam would be better for that I suppose. Thanks for the help guys, annoying as another cam choice thread may be.

cc306And if this is track only car, get a rear end(12 bolt or 9") especially with those gears, and around 3600 stall torque converter, though you could go higer.

I'm very happy with the Comp Cams XE 224/230-112. It's a good compromise between streetability and power. If you go any bigger, emmisions will likely be a problem (if that matters to you).
I have to pass a sniffer test every 2 years... haven't had one with the new engine yet, though. I'm hoping it'll pass!

call joe overton its only about 75 bucks more than a off the self cam. and you will make more power than 306 by a long shot.
306 dont have enough lope for me. maybe if it were on a 108 lsa like mine it would sound alright.
although the 306 is a good cam for stock heads becuase of the long exhuast duration and also nitous seems to like it.
