TH400 ? need quick answer

I know this is a completely retarded question but is the TH400 a three or four speed transmission. I've always thought it was a four speed but I was just thinking that I've never actually seen that anywhere.

Re: TH400 ? need quick answer

really?? that just blows my mind. i feel like such a retard now. so that means that it has a 1:1 third gear ratio right? so it would be at the same rpm at the same speed as a th350 with a 1:1 ratio? would a well built th350 be a better swap then for a 400-500hp application?

Here's a list of transmission ratios that may help. The 350 & 400 are near the bottom. First & second gears are a little different, but third is the same 1:1
