Testing opti before water pump goes on.

How do I test to make sure the opti is working before I put everything back together? Simply start the car real quick?

Pretty much... just see if it fires and runs smooth.

Someone had told me once to take the cap off and make sure the ball inside spins smoothly. Should not have any resistance to it. Dunno if it works just what I heard.
