Testing coil?

I've been having some ignition problems and before jumping on the Opti wagon and spending $200 for something that might not be the problem I want to check my coil. I have a Crane Cams PS91 coil and heard you could check them with an ohmmeter. Can anyone chime in with some info? Thanks.

Re: Testing coil?

This will test continuity and for excess resistance.

Re: Testing coil?

My coil only has 2 terminals though, not 4. 2 metal prongs that the plug connects to and then the high power output.

You don't have a stock type coil?

Re: Testing coil?

Nevermind, I found the specs on Crane's website.

Primary Resistance .43 ohms
Secondary Resistance 3.0 kohms

Is there any other way to test a coil?
