Test for 96-97 coils?

After searching I couldn't find the specs for testing the 96-97 coil, I found the procedure for the 94-95s on shoebox's site: http://shbox.com/1/coil_testing.jpg

I followed the similar testing, and measured across the output(plug wire term) to the 3 pins for the harness, and came up with 5.89k on each of them. Can anyone verify this for me against there 96-97 coil? Seems way off compared to 94-95 coils.

Re: Test for 96-97 coils?

The haynes manual lists the specification for the coil at 5000-7000ohms, but does not differ from 93-97 a different spec for the obviously different coils having not only different part numbers, but are physically different as well, but the coil they are showing in the pics is the same design as the 94-95 NOT the 96-97 style plug The reading shoebox got was 8500 though on his 95, but his coil was probably good for sure, but by hanes terms it would be bad, these haynes manuals are a joke.

The 96-97 coils were supposed to be higher output. A lower resistance than the earlier coil would not be a surprise to me. 5.89k sounds ok to me.

I get the 5.8k resistance on my 96 coil.
