Temp guage (head) / SS spoiler conversion ?s

Coolant temp sensor (the one located in the head)

Does it matter if this sensor is mounted on the driver side or passengers side head? My replacement block is from a Corvette. The sensor i pulled out is shallow compared the the AC Delco unit that I am replacing it with..The sensor is on the passenger side head. . I had to buy a new sensor and new wiring connector pigtail because mine was damaged. Are the Corvette and Camaro sensors suppose to be diffrent?

SS spoiler conversion

I did some research and what I found stated that an 80 ohm resister was needed. I have 68 ohm and 100 ohm resisters on hand. Will either of these work for this job?

Thanks

I don't know how critical the value is. But the 100 and 68 ohm resistors wired in parallel is pretty close to 80 ohms .

100+68 = 168/2 = 84 ohms.

Probably matters. On the passenger side the coolant flow has picked up heat from 3 combustion chambers before the sensor while on the diver's side only 1 chamber has warmed the coolant.

Piddly little resistors are going to fry. That is why people us a relay coil to simulate resistance on the SS conversion.

The temp sensor was standard on either head depending on the car model. I don't see how it makes a real difference. Apparently GM didn't.

No difference to engine operation since the PCM doesn't connect to it ... but the dashboard reading will probably be a little higher with the sensor in the rear of the engine. Cue the usual retort that it doesn't matter because the dashboard gauge is so inaccurate. (BTW the temp gauge in mine is in agreement with the PCM's temp sensor in the waterpump body)

Do they sell relay coils at the local Radio shack?

I was worried about the sensor mainly becuase it was longer than the one I pulled out. Was the sensor diffrent from year to year aswell?

You just buy a 12v automotive relay. Don't know about the difference in the sensors.
