Temp gauge is flat lined

Temp gauge is flat lined

Temp gauge is flat lined, what should i do or look for?

Is it pinned all the way cold or all the way hot? If all the way hot, most likely cause is the sender wire shorted to ground. All the way cold, most likey either a bad temp sender (located in the head, not the water pump!) or a broken connection, ground or sender wire. If it is flatlined cold, locate the temp sender in the head and disconnect the wire, it will be a single wire. Turn the key forward and have someone watch the gauge as you touch the wire to a good ground (head bolt works well and is close). If the gauge then pins full hot, change the sender and you will be fixed
