Tell me what u think about the SLP Clutch
Ok, so its time to replace my stock clutch and ive started a little research here on the forums and im currently leaning towards the SLP clutch. As you can see from my signature my car is lightly modded and the only mods that are in its future are some 411 gears and possibly the hot cam kit (because it needs to be smog leagal in CA). I normally drive the car pretty lightly, but every once in a while i need to open it up and have a good clutch for some good fun. Id say id be willing to spend about 500 for parts if u guys think it would be worth it. So here are my questions...
Is the SLP clutch a good clutch in general
Is it the right clutch for me
How does it compare as far as catching, durability, life, chatter etc
Is the T/O bearing, PP Plate, and Clutch Disk all i need
Where is the best place to buy
Thanks in advance...
Greg

Great clutch for what you are doing. Thats what i am running and it holds 6k clutch dumps on slicks even.
However, on the street it is EXACTLY like the stock unit. NO chatter, quiet, smooth, easy pedal. Been in my car for about 20k miles and about 75 drag passes. Its beginining to slip a little more than it used to when you are trying to slip the clutch (simply its not as grabby as it used to be), but for as abused as mine has been, couldnt ask for more.
Everything you listed is all you need. Also good idea to turn your flywheel.
I bought mine through T byrne when they had a 10% off sale. Vendors are always having 10%-15% off SLP stuff. Keep your eyes open.

Seems like a good clutch.. Same clutch I'm running as well ...
Holding up good so far... Although I did a 2nd gear dump once and well. the clutch went right to 5k
Feels excactly like stock too !
I'm happy with it

No wonder you got those kind of 60' times out of it
Just curious, how many times have you launched it that hard? I typically launched mine around 4k with the SLP clutch & BFG dr's when I was running the 10 bolt, twice I tried 5k and the tires didnt hook (probably a good thing for the old rear) I think the clutch is a little f'd up now, it drags as I go into gear. I'm going to be replacing it soon, I had about 75 passes and 10k on it.I think it is a great clutch for what this guy is looking for, without all this abuse at the track I'm sure I would have gotten a lot more life out of mine.
Re: Tell me what u think about the SLP Clutch
I would say prolly 20 on ET streets like that, and the rest were on heated 12 psi drag radials. I could never get drag radials to hook past 4k rpms or so. The ET streets i would rev to 6k, and then floor it right before i side stepped the clutch. Very consistent low 1.7 60' times. Only times i broke into the 1.6s were with skinnies and no front sway bar on the car, rest of runs had 275/40/17s up front.
Actually the only time i smoked the clutch was on drag radials. Heated them in 3rd gear (lol, they were HOT), and slipped the clutch HARD off the line at about 5k. Car went a high 1.7 but the 1-2 and 2-3 were slipping bad. Got back into the lanes and you could just smell it burning. That was back in the bolt on days, ever since the cam i havent been able to get any sort of decent 60's out of DRs.
