Before I bought those crap SLP dual cat shorties, I'd look into building a custom Y-pipe 2.5 inch, fully mandrel bent, and replacing the stock cats with random tech units.

Putting the cats back in the stock locations would keep you 100% legal, but you could really open up the exhaust breathing of the car by getting rid of those stock cats. When I went to longtubes on my car I spent a few minutes looking at the stock dual cat Y. The cats are supposed to be 2.5 inch, but if you measure the entry into the driver's side "cannister" cat it is only 2" actual opening. On the pass. side one, look closely, the 2.5" pipe actually necks down to 2.25 or so before going into the cat, and it necks back up to 2.5 after it comes out the other end.

IMO an improved Y would provide more benefit than those SLP dual cat headers. Likewise, if you still wanted those headers an improved Y would make sure you get the most of of them.

You can get a set of hooker shorties that come with the y-pipe. thats what i am running now. that will help you a bit...
