tci 3000 enough for this cam?
tci 3000 enough for this cam?
The car is a stock 95 Z28 and I wanted to know if you guys thought a 222/230 .509/.529 112 LSA camshaft would be a good match for a TCI 3000 stall.
I wanted to use 3.42 gears and stock lt1 ported heads with 1 3/4 SLP headers. The car will see alot of street use since it is my wife's car, but she wants to take it to the track whenever I take mine as well.

Re: tci 3000 enough for this cam?
3000 is too much. I'm no converter expert, but I would think 2600 would be more suited to that cam.
BTW not all converters will work the same even with similar stall speeds, I have had great experiances with Pro-torque.

Re: tci 3000 enough for this cam?
I think it would be OK, mind you that some stockers are runnig 2800 stalls. My 2800 was sized by PI when I had the hotcam on the stock 350, and the GM846 is slightly bigger so that 3000 should be fine.
Re: tci 3000 enough for this cam?
Ah the good old GM 846 heh? I'd say anything in the 2800-3000 range would be fine. A stock cammed car makes peak TQ around 2400rpm if I remember correctly. The GM 846 will make it much higher than that. A buddy of mine used to have a TCI 3000 and the car drove well with it. Another friend has a 2800-3000 Midwest and it pulls very nice 60's 1.6-1.7's with a cam a bit bigger than yours. Whatever you do I wouldnt go below 2800.
Are you picking the cam or the converter or both? If you can still pick either I'd call Bret Bauer for the cam and have him tell you what rpm stall to use with it.
