TB bypass

my lt1 is at 120,000 and runs strong. I dont think it will do a whole lot but its cheap and i'd like to do a tb bypass. Most people on the board i have noticed have done it. I have the general idea, but anyone wanna give me some detailed instructions so i know exactly where it is and exactly what to do? In the winter the car will be outside, and the temp may reach 0 degrees F maybe once a year. I wont need to have coolant in the intake at that temp will I. I dont plan on driving it in that kind of temperature, but is it ok to sit without anti-freeze in the intake? Also will there be any corrosion when theres no anti-freeze in it? thanks in advance-will

See shoebox's site, specifically this image:

Since 32 is freezing, you may want to think twice about it. The coolant running through the throttle body prevents icing at low temps. You shouldn't have a problem with no coolant in the throttle body if the car is just sitting. Antifreeze and water are much more corrosive than air.

Re: TB bypass

oops.. mistake. meant 0 degrees C. I live in South Carolina haha. I'm sure people have removed theirs in much colder states.

Re: TB bypass

no big deal, it would have to be awfully cold for ice to form in the TB once the engine is up to operating temp, I would think it would take sub 0dF to do that.

Re: TB bypass

You don't have anything to worry about.

The TB bypass will be completely fine in the wintertime unless it gets wayyy cold, in which case its no time to be driving an fbody anyways . Also, on lt1's, coolant doesn't go through the intake, just the throttle body.
