Re: Taylor OTVC Question

Yes you can get them from Summit. I did before I knew about Thunder...You have to piece the "kit" together, but its easy. Doing it through Summit you can pick whichever 8mm wire set you want. I went with the Taylor spiro pros, which are fine, but doing it again I'd use the Accel 9000s with the heat coating on the boots. Then order the Taylor "opti-ends" which are made for 8mm wires; the top mount Made for You looms for the center bolt valve covers; and a crimper if you don't have one...mine was from Taylor. It'll cost around $125ish depending on what wire you go with. The guys at Summit were easy to deal with, but you probably already know this...

If I lived close to Summit, I'd be divorced.... you lucky dog....

Re: Taylor OTVC Question

Wish i read your post before i went. I bought the spiro pro 8mm wires but got the 90 degree boots lol. Is their any way i can modify my stock wire boots to the taylors? I dont suppose anybody here has 90 degree boots on their opti?

Re: Taylor OTVC Question

It doesn't matter what "distributor" side ends you got as long as the spark plug ends are 90s..The Taylor opti-ends only come with the straight boots and the correct opti spark connectors...You have to buy the opti ends seperately, they are only made by Taylor...they are about $12...

Re: Taylor OTVC Question

How did you guys get the opti end on the plug wires?
I tried soapy water, the silicon in the kit those things will only go on about half way.
I like the kit but these are a PINA

Thanks

Re: Taylor OTVC Question

Spray a little WD40 in the boot and on the wire. Thats what I did and they slid right on.

Re: Taylor OTVC Question

Get some silicone lube (not the spray), put in on a q-tip and lube up the inside of the boot. Put a little on the end of the wire also, no problems at all.

Re: Taylor OTVC Question

I tried a TON of silicone with very little success. Then I used some of the most slippery stuff there is...motor oil After that they went on rather easy.

Re: Taylor OTVC Question

I held both the wire and the boot with shop rags, then sprayed lots of silicone on the wire and into the boot...They slid right on...You've got to hold the wires and boots with something to allow you to grip them after you spray...shop rags worked well for me...

Re: Taylor OTVC Question

well, thanks guys. I'm not sure what happened. Maybe I got some that were a little tighter than normal. I tried everything. Oil, silicon, Used a q-tip, holding them with rags and only one would go one after about and hour and a half. I even tried heating them up to soften and expand them.
A friend mentioned to me he used a drill bit to make the hole a little larger so I tried that last. It worked and they slid right on.
I can't imagine why those need to be so tight.
If anyone else has a problem with these go straight for your drill bits and don't mess around

Of all the installs I've done, Long tubes, clutches, cams, and even a 6 speed conversion these stupid plug wires are the biggest PINA I've ever seen.
