i got a few questions. first of all i'm taking in my car(96 z28) to the dealership today. i have the check engine light that i want checked out and find the sensor that is shoot.do i just ask them to read the codes for me? plus my car does about 300-350km (sorry i'm canaidian) on a full tank of gas, which iheard is not great mileage. do i need to change the spark plugs or anything else while i'm at the dealer?

 

Hmmm, Bad gas milage and a check engine light comming on at the same time usually means its time for a new 02 sensor...

 

Tell them you're getting an SES light and find out what the problem is. Then come back to this board and let everyone know what they told you (before you authorize them to do any work) and I'm sure someone can walk you through the fix yourself and let you know if the dealership is trying to bend you over or not.

 

All the dealers here will charge you $70 for a "computer diagnostics"... that takes them literally seconds....

If they do that up there take it to one of the part store like auton zone etc... they ushally do it for free
