TA vs. Z28
LET THE FLAMES BEGIN!!! LOL!!!
But, I'd vote for Camaro (because I own one). Black 2002 SS looks nice and clean..

If you were wanting all out speed and didnt care about options then you could find a stripped Z28 with no power windows etc and it would weigh about 200-300bls less than a regualar TA. Reason being is that like others have said most TA's, about 90% of them come with all options, power windows, locks, seats, most leather, t-tops etc. When is the last time you seen a TA without t-tops? Thats just the way Pontiac makes them. If you dont want all the options most most people get the Formula. There is not enough difference in the TA and Z28 performance wise to chose one over the other.
like everyone stated the performance is the same. The only reason why everyone says TAs weigh more is because they ALL came optioned out. A loaded Z will weigh almost as much as a T/A, so the only time a T/A really wieghs more is when you have a stripped down Z and how offten do you see that? I don't see it very offten except for people who are very serious about drag racing it.
On the LT1s I like the camaro exterior but their interior sucked until they copied pontiacs 97 SS owns! For the LS1 pontiac owns both firebird and t/a, the ls1 camaro looks too much like a chrylster(sp). IMO

I have a friend with a '97 T/A that has neither leather nor T-Tops, but I guess that is something of a rarity. My T/A has every option available for that year, and I guess that is more of the norm. The only weight difference I could see in the T/A's is the uplevel spoiler. But then again there are some earlier 4th gen T/A's without it. Honestly, how much do side ground effects and a lower rear bumper actually weigh in comparison to a Formula?? The Firebird's are probably more aerodynamic in the 93-97 models, but I think they lost that edge when the 98-02 models came out.
when I first got into cars(december 2001), I was set on getting a Camaro. The looks of the LT1 T/A were hidious to me. that sharp, pointy front end. I had no intentions of getting a trans am, until one day, I figured, why not get to liking it. It will be an extra car to look for instead of just one model. So now, here I am, with a gorgeous car(when its clean, damn black
). I still love the looks of LT1 Camaros, but I like my "rarity factor" i get with my T/A, and having people look at my car with a "whats that?!" look on there face

i have a trans am simply because it is the best condition LT1 i coud find, but i love the looks of both cars! and yes i agree the LT1 camaro'slook way better than the 98 + ones, but then again so do the LT1 trans ams
