TA vs. Z28
T/A are usually heavier than a conventional Camaro, because they are more heavily optioned. T-A is top of the line, and are usually fully loaded, I cant remember when is the last time I saw a T/A without leather seats.
last time I checked you could get the same options on a Z28 that you could on a T/A.
Look at it like this...Corvette is the top of the line LT1/LS1. Then you have the son, the CHEVY Camaro, and then the generic half brother Pontiac T/A. hahaha jp firebird guys.
I personally love the look of the newer Firebirds, 98? and up maybe. The nice ram air hood and if you see one coming at you with the running lights on, they just look sweet and mean! But at the same time when I see an SS, I want to fall in love. That is one of the most beautiful cars ever. A white SS with chrome rims, t tops, and 2 red racing stripes.
oh yea, I would vote for a Camaro or newer Ram Air TA.

I like Chevrolet's hands down...that's why I stick with Camaro's over Firebirds (T/A's included...) - But my honest opinion, is that the T/A's do seem to be kind of more top of the line, as a standard. They also seem to me to be faster as a standard, but that's really just got to be imagination, considering the facts.
If T/A's were Chevrolet's, they'd be the absolute hands down best thing next to a 'Vette. For now, I will just have to say that the Camaro is best because it is Chevy - the T/A is great because it is styled nicely, and very classy.

I must admit i love the look of T/A's and i'd take the look over the 98 and up camaro's(they look too nice) But the 93-97 Camaro's.. i absolutly love the front end look.. they look mean
and with the SS ram air hood.. does it get anybetter?? i'll answer that.. no! just my 2cent

I can't remmember exactly, but I do know that more options were standard on the TA than on the Z28. I know that some had "performance" switches for the tranny, ability to turn TC on and off, and there were also some other minor things that TA's got that Z28's didn't. I have owned both, and while the TA is a beuatiful car to look at, the Z28 just seems to have the brute look going for it ( I am of course speaking of 4th gens, cause we all know that a 2nd gen TA would romp on a Z28 all day!!

For me its like this:
93-97 Camaro looked better....
98-02 Trans Am( w/ WS6 hood
) Looked Best of all 4th gens
IMHO.
But since there was 2X as many Camaros as Firebirds, the Trans Am has to be something that is a little bit rarer, if you going that route.
Performance wise I don't think aerodynamics is a limiting factor of any 4th gen car
So all things considered the car with a better driver, or the motor that was just a bit more powerful from the factory will win.
