Red face TA Cover. Question about Stud Kit...

I am wondering what the stud kit does? I thought it was to put pressure on the bearing caps but the cover itself already has those provisions implemented on them.

Thanks

The studs are stronger than the stock bolts, less deflection/stretch etc..

The girdle helps the main caps from deflecting under pressure by loading the centers of the caps.

The stud kit replaces the four main bolts with studs. Studs are often preffered because they can be reused and they can be more accurately torqued (and therefore have more accurate clamping loads)

Both of these things help the carrier from deflecting and therefore help maintain the correct contact area of the gearset. I haven't seen any hard data that shows how much these two things help, but I figure it couldn't hurt. The solid pinion spacer is probably a more effective "mod" for the rear end.
