T56 w/ problems... fork or syncros?

I am in the process of selling my car because of the problems it constantly has. Right now the problem is the transmission. The 1-2 syncro (im guessing) is out, because every time i try and go from 1 to 2 it scratches on something and wont let me go in that gear, but I can start in 2nd gear fine. It does the same thing when downshifting in just about any gear unless you wait to shift (keep it in neutral for a sec, and then shift). Does anyone know what this is? I am thinking of fixing it myself to save $$, but I would have to know what is up w/ the transmission to do this...

I have a kevlar stage 2 SPEC clutch, headers, offroad y... etc.

thanks for the help, maybe i'll keep the car if i can get it working right

Later

First.. how much are you selling your car w/ the probleM? im interested to know that please email me @ plattners@enterprise.navy.mil Now the answer to you ? is you probably blew the synchro's out the box.. And possibly bent a fork or 2... Is it hard to go in gear from a dead stop? If so.. Then it might be your clutch... All in that area.. Not a good reason to sell your car IMHO.. Get your tranny rebuilt and while your in there.. throw that SPEC clutch in the trash.. You'll be set...

Unhappy

I am on the waiting list for an STi right now, and I'm really thinking about beefing up my transmission and keeping my car (maybe even as a track car). From a stop you feel something spinning when you try and put it in gear, then when you are in gear all is good. I have been so buisy lookin at new cars I havent had the time to really mess with it... how hard is it to replace the fork/synchros? And if it is the clutch, how can that be repaired? should i just check fluid levels?

thanks

any other suggestions on what could be wrong w/ the transmission, or write ups on how-to's of how to fix the transmission? Im thinkin if I keep the car, a cam is goin in, thus needing hardened parts for transmission if im not correct; where sells hardened syncros/shift forks?

thanks again
