T56 Durability

I was curious, in a near stock car such as mine, how durable is a T56? When it comes to driving it, I'm fairly easy, but no grandma. Its never been to the track, but I've probably nailed it and barked 2nd and 3rd about 7-8 times driving it over the summer (about 4k miles).

Do these things hold up well? I've always been under the assumption they did. Also, how often should the fluid be changed? I did mine 11k ago, and was planning on doing it again in the spring...it'll be 3 years old

With that type of driving, it will last forever Start racing it with big power and it will be come a problem.

change the fluid about every year at least. and these things are good to well over 600 hp. i have to do a rebuid on mine soon becuase i left the tranny bolt loose from the bell housing and it knocked the input shaft bearing out and got some of the gears. and now the syncos are going.

but i have a buddy who saud he would rebuild it for free.

T56's are very druable. You should be ok beating up on it a little. As for the fluid according to the owners manual you never have to change it. I probably still would every 75k or so just to be on the safe side.

I am pushing over 700 rwhp and it is still holding up well. Plus my T56 (93-M28) has a lower hp and torque rating.

What kinds of 60' times are you running? 1/8 and 1/4?

With barely over 500rwhp, I've broken my T56 many times. Pics of it in pieces are on my website.

IMO the thing that kills them is power shifts, especially if your arm is faster than your foot and you jam it in 2nd or something before its completely disconnected.

FWIW I have been known to stomp on mine 7-8 times a DAY and my T-56 is fine

You might want to try posting this on the "Drivetrain" forum. The Moderator there has put over 700rwHP thru a T56.
