t-56 popping out of First HELP

I have a 95 T56 that is popping out of first. I dissasembled the trans and found the syncros were perfect. What else could cause this. The shift forks seems ok.

You don't happen to have an aftermarket shifter do you? The stop screws on my Pro-5.0 came loose and so they were too close to the stick and wouldnt let it engage in gear all of the way so it would pop out all of the time. If you dont have an aftermarket shifter I dont know what else to tell you...?

Smile

A syncro will not make a transmission jump, ( Pop ) out of gear , A syncro only slows down the gear to get a ( mesh) with the next gear ...." Stops it from Grinding )

Check the gear, shaft for wear...ect..

Hope this helps some, hard to say without seeing it

Look for teeth worn at the lowest part of the gear, Pitted also ?

Where it rides on the main shaft, ( loose , Main shaft worn, gear worn ) ?

Galding where the syncro rides on the gear , if so, back to look Why is is worn?

Shift forks worn?

As someone else said, you sure is is not as simple as your shifter being out of adjustment ( Stops ) (not engaging the gear all the way? ) Any problem in 3rd gear ?

And double check your shims, ( any pieces laying in the case ? )

Make SURE!!!!!, You have the correct end play !

Hope this helps some.....

The bottom of the teeth are tapered which I believe is normal. I checked everything that you said real quick and the gear seems the be the cause. In the T56 manual it says that the gear teeth can be "repaired" with a grinder. What do you think? The manual says that they should not be rounded but some of them are. I am not having the problem in third. It pops out 7 out of ten times when taking off. But if I engine brake and leave it in first with the clutch in the ground without taking the shifter out of first then take off it nevers pops out. I adjusted the pro 5.0 shifter per specs and the bolts are not loose.
