Symptoms of a dying coil?
Symptoms of a dying coil?
Are there any symptoms of a dying coil?
I have been have an annoying problem with starting my car..
Here we go.. When I get in to start it I have to to leave the key in the "on" position for about 10 seconds AND THEN crank it for it to start. It will start JUST FINE by doing this.
If I try and start it with out doing this it will just turn and turn.
I think it is either the fuel pump or the coil.

-Loss of power at higher RPM at WOT.
-In a very dark area with the hood open, you can see a small amount of arcing on the coil.
Sounds to me like your symptoms could be your fuel pump not keeping enough pressure after you turn the car off. Get a fuel gauge, check the pressure when after you turn the car off to see if it maintains it.
Re: Symptoms of a dying coil?
It's the pressure. When you turn the key on it should happen in a matter of a few seconds, the fuel system turns on and builds up the pressure. Yours just does it a little slower. I'd get it checked out but as long as it builds the pressure it should be okay but it may not build enough. Check the pressure.
