Symptoms of a bad waterpump?

What are those?

I have a 95 TA which is having some weird cooling related problems I'm trying to troubleshoot and before I start tearing it completely apart, let's hear some symptoms.

The pump is not leaking and it has supposedly been changed (according to the seller) some time ago.

Are there any other that could happen to the pump?

TIA!

Re: Symptoms of a bad waterpump?

does it make a little weird winding noise, because i know this happened to my car. the waterpump is gear driven off the timing chain (where the cam is at such as piggybacks cam) but there is a gear ont he waterpump, then a coupler and the gear on the timing chain, the teeth may be worn down some possibly, but i would look for that if u hear a loud wining noise from waterpump area.. but if is not that maybe there is air in the system, or it needs flushed, what exactly does it do?

This could be many things.... Stuck Thermostat... Air that needs to be bled out,,,, Slow leak in the Radiator (believe me I have one that is so slow it was right on my face and I never noticed it till I saw just one drop of coolant sipping out very slowly).....Engine so gunked up that needs a good flushing to get rid of the mud...

You havent said what cooling problems you have though... so I am just guessing.
