Symptoms of a bad pressure plate??

I just recently got doen doing a T-56 swap on my 94 Z28. The swap went fine but after i got done i would have a vibration every time you got on the car. especially in the upper RPM's.

I used a stock resurfaced flywheel. Stock Hydraulics. A SLP clutch and a new pilot bearing.

After letting the shop that installed the clutch look at the car they determined that the clutch slipping was what was causing the vibration. There was a prevelant burnt clutch smell to go with it. This clutch is brand new. Hardly any mileage other than the break in mileage.

Well we pulled it out and find that it was definately slipping. Thing is it seems the clutch was only engaging on the verry inner edge of the pressure plate and flywheel. The inner edge of the flywheel and the inner edge of the pressure plate are both blued from the heat. the inner edge of the both sides of the clutch are glazed. If you need any visual aids i can send you a pic of the disk and PP.

The shop says this is a pressure plate problem and the the PP is not distributing force over the entire surface of the clutch. I want to make sure this is it before i go and buy another clutch. Is there any other problem that could cause this?

Thanks
Shawn

Could be the pressure plate like you said, but could also be a warped disc. It could have been bent during shipping or during the installation. Could also be an uneven surface on the flywheel. That one's kinda unlikely, since you had the flywheel resurfaced, but you never know. Try the new drivetrain forum.

Well here's what all i am going to replace. clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, spec billet flywheel, slave and master cylinders, tranny mount.

Is there anything else that could possibly cause this? Clutces are very expensive and i can just about bet that SLP is not going to hanor there warranty. I want to make sure that this don't happen again.

Thanks
Shawn
