What are some symptoms of your motor mounts having bit the dust? Lately when I am driving, I will hit a bump and feel something moving in the front end. My first thought was something to do with the suspension. I just had it up on a lift today and there did not appear to be any play with the suspension anywhere. Sometimes I will feel this clunking when accelerating and turning at the same time. It feels like something is fixing to fall off and cause me a world of hurt.

 

Excessive vibration or clunks when putting the car in gear or heavy acceleration are all symptoms of bad motor mounts.

 

If the "bang" is around the console of the car, it might be the tranny mount (just a thought).

 

I second that. The acceleration clunk sounds like trans mount, don't know about clunk when hitting a bump in the road part.

 

It's not the tranny mount. I replaced that about 20K miles ago. Also, the clunk is not felt in the console, it feels like it is coming from up front. When the car was in the air, we checked the tranny mount again anyways for good measure.
