Is this cam too big?

I have a cam laying around that I thought about putting in my 94 Z28 but I think it is too be. Right now the car is %100 stock.

lift with 1.5 rockers is .510 in .520 ex
lift with 1.6 rockers is .544 in .554 ex

duration @ .006 .281 in .287 ex
duration @ .050 .230 in .236 ex

LSA 112 Intake centerline 108

open in 7 BTDC ex 54 BBDC
close in 43 ABDC ex 2 ETDC

I will be using stock rockers for now. Does anyone wanna trade for a HOTCAM or something smaller than what I have?

Depends on what ya want.
I don't think it's to big unless it's a no stall auto.

Re: Is this cam too big?

Will it run ok without tuning anything? Will it play games with the map sensor? The car is a M6. How will it affect fuel economy? Will it be compatible with with stock heads and intake manifold? The only mod I have right now is muffler removed with stock exhaust.

Get headers first. No that cam is not big and will run fine with a stock tune.

That is a good sized cam but you definately don't want to run it with your stock springs and retainers. A cam with that much lift will produce high spring pressure and your stock valvetrain will fall apart. Throw a set of Comp's beehive springs on and a set of retainers and you will be set.And by the way for the best performance you will need headers, and a custome tune. Once you hear that cam it will be worth it!

Re: Is this cam too big?

This cam is awesome. I dynoed 341hp with the mods in my sig. It is very drivable (with a good tune) with a M6. I do recommend getting the Ls1 behive springs- 918's. I went cheap and got the CC612's, and now I have valve float. I also recomment getting headers before getting this cam.

BTW, you can hear the cam and see my dyno graph here: http://lethallyinjected.homestead.co.../CrazyZ28.html

Re: Is this cam too big?

Part number for the springs is 26918, call comp and get the recommended seats, retainers and locks.
I wouldn't run the stock rockers on the cam for the reason the these rockers are lift limited, there are aftermarket stamped steel rockers that are more consistent on the ratio and have a longer slots for higher lifts.

Run fine with a stock tune? I highly doubt it.

Re: Is this cam too big?

You would definately want to get some supporting mods first..

Like headers, exhaust, intake, etc..

You'll also be leaving alot on the table wth the stock tune.
