switching non-vented to vented opti housings?

I recently purchased a 96 long block from a friend. Im taking off my non-vented opti that I have and he gave me the back-rotor housing so I could fit my non-vented into the timing cover.

I would buy a vented one, but my non-vented has like 5k on it and works good.

just curious to see if anyone has done this and anything I could do to make it last longer

They It's more to it than just a vent hose. The vented has a different drive system and I think uses a different timing cover. You would save money and headache by buying a vented opti.

Although the housing and drive system is different, both of those make no difference in the life of the unit or have anything to do with the vent system. I have seen several people install vented caps on non-vented Optis. Your only problem would be one of the lines into the distributor was through the Aluminum housing and you would havce to fab something to take its place.

I would go for it! I'm going to try the same thing when I do my Head/cam swap.

yeah, i realized I would probably have to fab something. No big deal. On a budget, so hopefully i just get the car running by this week. I'll post back in here and let everyone know how it goes.
